New information is tested internally and maybe externally.

The first gate of assessment is a test of whether the information is internally consistent and integratable. If not, it is often discarded as an error on someone else’s part. Another rarer, yet more important, gate is whether the information is externally valid and testable. This primarily internal validation approach further reinforces a bubble of reality.[^G1]
