Well-designed goals cover all bases of the behavior model.

The Fogg behavior model specifies that behavior is the result of adequate levels of motivation, ability, and triggers. As good goals are intended to produce behavior, they need to stimulate/abid by these same factors. The “exciting” quality targets motivation. Ability is supported by specific, achievable, and time-bound, as well as actionable. Triggers may exist in time-bound or exciting, but an external system like Getting Things Done may need to come into play.
