Roles are different than titles.

A role is a function of a team or organization. A role tends to encompass a somewhat specific set of purpose-bounded responsibilities. A title tends to encompass some specific roles and responsibilities, but is more focused on organizational communication and accountability boundaries than skill-based roles. On a team, roles defined by team-level capability may center upon one person or title, or can be shared by multiple people or titles.
