Resilience is the ability to remain unchanged or restore oneself after distortion.

It is the opposite of rigid and brittle. Meta-resilience comes in when one part of a system can restore another part, which is the premise of self-organization. Resilience may be lost when optimizing a system, but devaluing its fallback mechanisms. Balancing feedback loops are a major component in resilience.rM3
