Kinds of “forever,” or, perception of permanent states.

There are three perceptions of “forever”:rG4

  • Forever of discomfort is the sense that a problem will never be solved or disappear, leading to giving up despite its temporary reality.
  • Forever of plenty is an understanding that what’s good must last, which it cannot, leading to wastefulness.
  • Forever of never is essentially giving up on the hope that something could be different in the future. This is self-defeating and only of benefit to those who’d want no change.
